As externship comes to a close I have realized to have an appreciation for each experience and encounter I have with people as they can become very special. Some characteristics I see in other employees that I want to have myself is the energy they bring the entire time they are at work because occasionally I'd find myself getting tired the last hour of the day. After this internship it has changed my view after high school to pursue a career in sports medicine and physical therapy. This externship has also motivated me to learn more about this profession and possibly come back in the summer to volunteer more. This internship has definitely influenced me to pursue this career in my future and taught me the importance of having to work and understand patients needs. Being able to understand and hear where someone is coming from is an important life skill to have as well outside the workplace.

The way I measured my success was how well I did things and performed certain tasks for my mentor and fellow employees. I also measured it by how satisfied patients attitudes were when we were done with our sessions. If they left happy or in a good mood I knew I did something right. I made a meaningful contribution to my workplace by doing small and simple tasks for my mentor and with patients that helped the physical therapists days a little easier so they didn't have to worry about those things and focus more on the patients. The work I did here was very meaningful to my education because it led me to do something I want to pursue in the future and taught me things about being a physical therapist world in a hands on way. I also learned that there is a lot more than doing exercises with patients but as well as having an open ear and listening to them talk about other problems they are having in life. I learned that in a fast paced environment when dealing with patients you have to balance chit chat and exercise time efficiently to have an effective visit that way they are helping the patient and not just getting distracted by conversation because some patients don't like the exercises. This made me realize how to improve my own work ethic in the classroom by limiting my goofing off time and doing actual work in class.
